I’ve total confidence in Mr. Kulkarni. He’s so approachable, personable, supportive, selfless with his time and an amazingly skilled surgeon. He’s restored my quality of life. Friends, family and notably other medical professionals can’t believe the degree of my recoveries. The fact Mr. Kulkarni has replaced both hips by different approaches (mini posterior/lateral and SuperPath) and these procedures have been a huge success. This is a reflection of his expertise, not simply a happy coincidence.

Steve aged 70

I asked friends if anyone would recommend an orthopaedic surgeon for a hip replacement and one recommended Mr K. A friend of his had just had SuperPath done by Mr K and he came highly recommend.

Mr Kulkarni replaced my left hip by a conventional method on 4th September 2020. I started as a private patient a year before but because of other medical factors I had to go into Leicester General Hospital in case I needed ICU or HDU backup, which thankfully I did not. Covid-19 intervened so to get the operation done I had to be switched from private to NHS treatment. I also had to change from SuperPath to Conventional. Mr Kulkarni oversaw all this and could not have been more helpful and sympathetic. Apart from being a highly skilled surgeon he has a wonderful and approachable bedside manner. I have at 70, regained my mobility which was badly inhibited before. A wonderful surgeon and a marvellous man!

I first heard about the SuperPath operation when I was looking to have a hip operation and a friend showed me an article by Mr Kulkarni in a national newspaper. Even though I live in Essex I decided to go ahead and book an appointment with him in Leicester. I had my first operation on my right hip in January 2020. Everything went to plan, and I was walking and driving within no time. Also, the scar is so small and no restrictions on what you can do etc. I had my second SuperPath operation 12 days ago (written 18.03.21) on my left hip and I’m walking with one crutch or no crutch at all. I would definitely recommend Mr Kulkarni; he is very committed to what he does and very helpful and encouraging. Would also say SuperPath is the way to go regarding hip replacements.

Revolutionary new surgery at Nuffield Health Leicester sees patients back dancing, walking and driving much quicker than ever before.

Derek had physiotherapy, regular sessions with his consultant surgeon Ashwin Kulkarni, and found he could drive after two weeks, and back to dancing – although on a limited scale – seven weeks after his operation.

In February, just one year after the hip replacement, Derek is heading to the Austrian mountains to attempt to rekindle his love of downhill skiing.
